Proper & Safe Vehicle Operation and Maintenance
April 17, 2026The workshop event "Proper and Safe Vehicle Operation and Maintenance – from the Engine to the Battery" took place on the morning of April 16, 2026, at Hall B4, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT – VNU-HCM). The event attracted over 200 students ranging from freshmen to seniors majoring in automotive engineering and related technical fields.
The program was organized by the Faculty of Transportation Engineering, in collaboration with GS Battery Vietnam Co., Ltd. It provided a learning environment that combined theory and practice, aiming to enhance awareness and skills for safe vehicle operation in real-world conditions.
At the beginning of the program, the lecturers – Master Nguyen Dinh Hung and Master Pham Tran Dang Quang – emphasized the importance of periodic maintenance and the ability to detect early signs of abnormalities during vehicle use. The content was designed in a visual and practical manner, closely aligned with real-life situations that vehicle users may encounter, covering electrical systems, starting systems, braking systems, tires, as well as suspension, steering, and engine systems.

Master Nguyen Dinh Hung highlighted the importance of regular maintenance and early detection of unusual signs when using vehicles.
Notably, the starting electrical system section received special attention, as it pointed out potential risks from a commonly overlooked component: the battery. In reality, a weak battery or a faulty charging system can prevent a vehicle from starting, or even cause it to stall at an intersection—situations that pose significant safety risks. These analyses helped students better understand the fundamental role of the battery in the overall operation system of a vehicle.
The program did not stop at theoretical sessions in the auditorium. It continued with outdoor practical activities, where students directly observed and inspected components on cars and motorcycles. Under the guidance of lecturers, student groups participated in quick vehicle condition assessments, identifying common issues such as worn brake pads, degraded tires, oil leaks in the suspension system, or problems related to starting and electrical power. The atmosphere became more engaging with Q&A sessions, quizzes, and technical discussions, making knowledge acquisition more intuitive and dynamic.

Master Pham Tran Dang Quang guided students in directly observing and inspecting components on cars and motorcycles.
The program also introduced fundamental knowledge about charging and starting systems in motorcycles, from single-phase and three-phase configurations to modern starting mechanisms such as smart key systems and ACG systems, helping students get closer to real-world technologies currently applied in the market.

Students directly observed and inspected components on cars and motorcycles.
With the support of GS Battery Vietnam, the workshop was not only a skills training activity but also demonstrated the company’s commitment to supporting vocational education and raising traffic safety awareness among future engineers. Through this program, GS Vietnam aims to spread the message: a safely operating vehicle does not only rely on technology but also begins with users’ understanding and proper maintenance habits.

Students checked in at the workshop.
